In his analysis of ancient church history in Western Europe, the author provides a dramatic commentary on the prophetic forecast in the Book of Revelation (2:1 – 3: 22) with an intentional parallelism between the situation of Christians and the Jews of Europe. The first century messages to the seven church communities in Asia Minor set out principles of permanent validity to the church and outline demands for a high standard of moral conduct in the campaign for Christ’s name. These are contrasted with the events which will certainly occur in the course of church history right down to the second coming of Jesus Christ.
