A great read Review by Carole
Oh Lee, i am LOVING your book! It's so funny and easy to read. Set in Tauranga too makes it extra special and I'm even picking up some running tips! I've had a few laughs suddenly sneak out at unexpected moments! (Posted on 6/06/12)
For all readers Review by Gibbous D. Moonlight
Forget the chick-lit classification, this story of personal growth will appeal to most readers. When frivolous, self centred Melanie Short is fired from her job as billboard model for Sportzgirl’s sexy sportswear, she thinks it’s the end of her glitzy way of life. After a splurge of emotion fuelled retail therapy, reality strikes hard. She might lose her cherished apartment! A flash of inspiration enables her to fight back in what turns into a hilarious, uphill struggle against her sleazy bosses, who will stop at nothing to humiliate her. Mel discovers strengths she never knew she had. There are things more important than fame and fortune, not least a doting boyfriend, waiting in the wings to get his grubby mitts back on her nubile body. Narrated in the first person at an almost breathless pace, A Dash of Reality combines a clever plot with well drawn characters, both likeable and obnoxious. It is set in the author’s home town of Tauranga, making inventive use of its landmarks and lesser known byways. (Posted on 5/04/12)
Escape your own reality... Review by Dawn Picken
I don't normally read "chick lit," but this was a rollicking surprise. Lee Murray transports you to Melanie's world - a world of designer labels, trampled dreams and snarky comments. A Dash of Reality is a slice of EnZed pop culture tied in silk ribbon, and mixed with champagne. Reading this is like spending a day at the beach with your funniest, cleverest girlfriend. Well-crafted and witty. Review by Morepork
A Dash of Reality takes the reader into the nitty-gritty world of running a marathon. The journey follows main character Melanie as she embarks on her road to fame. Humour (LOL stuff at times) is sprinkled liberally throughout. I ran through picturesque bush and observed vivid sea and landscapes as I accompanied Melanie on her dash. It made me want to take up running again. A great read!! (Posted on 27/03/12)
