This mosaic of memories chronicles the random recollections of 37 over-90 year olds, several from overseas, who were drawn to Rotorua, New Zealand, at some stage in their lives. These contributions were garnered by Ynys Fraser, herself 93 at the time, and Alison Brown, who ‘sat in’ on the chatty interviews, took photos and made notes which she transcribed to present this anecdotal century of remembering. Ynys believes these persons should be valued not only within the family but within the whole community. Her focus was on capturing their remnant recollections before they faded. She considers them a vital link with the past, revealing the human fortitude, steadfastness and endurance of spirit that is the essence of New Zealand today.
