A simple assignment to an idyllic seaside town in the Coromandel peninsula turns into more than Ralph Sinclair bargained for. While assisting a marine inspector investigate the disappearance of a commercial fishing boat, he finds himself siding with the crew’s family and friends. When a man is found dead, Ralph is suspected of murder. He thinks he knows who did it - a leading member of the small tight knit community - but lacks clear evidence. The skipper’s daughter could clear his name. But she has known and respected Ralph’s suspect all her life. Will her loyalty to family and friends – and their secrets - be too strong to save him?

- Atmospheric setting Review by Morepork
- A favourite place for me - the Coromandel - but not where one expects mystery and murder. Clarke certainly captures the beauty of the wild peninsula as the intriguing plot thickens. Well-defined small town people, a love affair and the unique Coromandel flavour makes this a quintessential New Zealand tale. (Posted on 4/04/12)

- Another one that had me up half the night! Bumbling maritime inspector Ralph Sinclair stumbles across a murder in coastal Coromandel. Not your usual sleepy seaside story. (Posted on 28/03/12)
