ereader comparison chart

ereader comparisonThis chart was developed by PWC in Europe.

It illustrates the varying capabilities of different types of ereaders. If you've read the other ereader pages, you will know by now that PCs, Smartphones and Tablets also double as ereaders.

This chart shows the strengths and weaknesses of each type. e.g. Battery life is very good in dedicated ereaders such as the Kindle.

But the Kindle is not much good for mobile connectivity.

If you want to look at colours, choose a Tablet or PC.

An ereader will not be good for videos. But since this chart was produced, the Kindle Fire has been announced. The Kindle Fire will screen videos. However, it uses colour, therefore its battery life is lower than the other kindles.

Interestingly, mono flat screens are still the best to read outside or in bright sunlight. This may change in the next few years, when somebody releases colour screens that do this.

Again, interestingly, the Smartphone scores quite well throughout most functions. This is a good point. If you already have a Smartphone, then try using it as an ereader before you buy anything else. You can download bothe kindle and epub reader software onto it. It will be a breat educational curve for you.

The key is to identify the points that are important to you before you purchase your ereader.

Happy analysis, happy purchasing, and happy reading!
